Saturdays Ride

The day started at 6am at my house. Kim my wife gave Lester, Barry and myself a ride to the trail head at the top of Mt Rose. This was news to Kim she thought she was shuttling us to Spooner Lake. Sorry honey I left that out. Oops.
We arrived around 7 ish and got started .

The trail has a little climb for about a mile and then the fun begins. This trail is a kick, there are twists and turns , Rock steps and forever views it is just a great ride all the way to the end of the Flume Trail and then it starts all over again. The Flume Trail is, well The Flume Trail, Nuff said.

We stopped to take in the views and take a look at my chain. I must have hit a rock or something because one of my links had some damage to it and it was causing my chain to jump in my lower gears. After Berry and I found the problem I just figured I would use my higher gears for the rest of the ride. It seamed to fix it self by the end of the ride, which was nice.

So anyway I thought I would snap some pictures while we were stopped so I took off my Oakleys and water pack and took a few shots. . Then we loaded back up and off to Marlett Lake. On the way to Marlett we started see people and we passed a lady that must of been 70 years old all decked out in MTB gear and full suspension bike. "Wow way to go Grandma" I was impressed!! Once we got to Marlett something just wasn't right. Oh Yeah My SUNGLASSES there back on the rock were I was taking pictures.
"Didn't like those sunglasses anyway".
Dang it!

We stopped at the bottom of the climb coming out of Marlett basin. at this point in the ride I was feeling pretty good about my performance as a mountain Biker I was climbing rock steps with out stopping and all and all I was doing pretty good . And then the climb out of the basin started, however short. I didn't know I was ridding with two mountain Goats. Off they went up the hill. After the dust cleared they were no where to be seen . I finally caught up with them at the top.
I think they both were sitting under a tree reading a novel to pass the time while they waited for me.
Then the ride down to Spooner was nice. But the traffic coming up the trail was getting congested. Lots a Folks heading up to The World Famous Flume Trail.
Its all good tho, I have been in the middle of that crowd more than once myself.
Then our fearless leader took use on a trail only he knows about over to the highway. And got us on the road down Kings Canyon. Still can't keep up with these guys. But they stopped for me a couple of time .
We made it home at 12:15 pm
Man, what a great ride 35 miles in 5 hr.

I will be doing that again really soon.

Peace

Stanford Rock Ride Sunday

Well I was called up to North Lake for work, what a surprise. "Not"
So I thought lets take the CFM with. So I did and after I was done with what I needed to do for work I asked if there were any trails close, and I was told follow the bike path south and once you go over the bridge you will see a single track heading West . So I did and I did.
Wow I really didn't know what I was in for but I climbed and climbed and climbed.
and after 6miles of constant up hill I turned around . I was rained on twice but that didn't really matter I was wet any way from all the hard work.
Well to make a long story longer come to find out I was only a half of a mile from the ridge . Soooo I made it I just didn't get the big pay off.
On the way down God told me I should never go out with out my helmet.
Oh I didn't add that tid bit of info. "I didn't think I needed my helmet I was just going to ride the bike path."
Yeah Right Rog!
So anyway on the way down a piece of wood got lodged between my front tire and fork .
OUT OF NOWHERE and Duuude it tossed me right over the bars and my bike landed on top of me.
Iam OK Iam OK!@$#--
Couple of bruises and a couple of cuts but no head injuries thank God. Well Lesson learned.
Don't go out without your helmet and Gear.

All and all it was a great workout my legs are felling the climb.
Here are some pictures I found on the net of the trail .
The trail is steep, rocky and did I mention steep.
Slow climb up and not to bad of a decent.
It was a pretty cool ride.
Nice views between gasping for breath.

Peace

Weekend morning ride

I sent Lester a text Saturday morning to see if he wanted to go to The AC . But he had already made plans with his dogs. So Lu Lu and I went up for a Saturday morning ride. It was spectacular!!
I brought my small camera with me and I got some super shots that I will share.
I took Seven Steps up for the first time ever and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was a little concerned about going up the steps , but I made it with only putting my foot down a couple of times . I think I will be able to make it up without stopping if I plan a little more on Speed at the right time.
Lots of Fun.

The work on the climbing turn was much more than I expected . I don't know how it rides coming down Baldy Green, But coming up it rides great,
Good job you guys .
It gives you enough speed and room to enter the turn and complete the turn with hardly any effort. NICE !!

The upper section of 4Days is very nice also it ride like a Freeway.

Lu Lu's Lagoon had visitors while we were filling Lu's water tank.

We also stopped at Charlie's Beach to cool off again, so we did,
and took the time to snap a few shots.

"DON'T DRINK THE WATER DOWN STREAM"
I am working all weekend and it has already started Sunday morning so off to The Lake again.
I got home last night at 8pm I hope I don't have to work as long today.

I hope you enjoy the pictures from the ride yesterday.

Evening ride with Sis

My Daughter and I went for an evening ride up to "The AC" Wednesday evening after dinner. Oh Yeah Lu came too. It was her first time climbing up Jackrabbit. She did great. We ran into a bunch of people on the ride. Jeff and Lester were coming down from Trail work. I tried to hide but the sage brush just isn't big enough to hide my fat ass. I would have come up with some lame excuse why I wasn't there to help , but I just don't have one. Sorry guys :( .
We also ran into Mark L. coming down from his evening ride.
Mark, Lu Lu wants to know were was Molly and Hank?
Also up there on an evening road ride was the owner of The Bike Smith.
( his name totally escapes me, Sorry It is a little early)
Its one of the local Bike Shops in town. He was riding this cool urban street bike . Iam not really sure what it was but it looked nice.
A quick side note on his shop. Every time I have been in there all the guys have been great. They have stopped and answered all of my questions and they have even put my bike right on the rack to fix it on a Saturday, to get me back on the trail.
Great service and very helpful staff. What a great place to do business.

Ok back to Sissys first ride in The AC . All she kept saying was "you didn't tell me how beautiful it is up here".
We rode all the way to the "Root Challenge" at the bottom of Baldy Green.
She did great!!
The sun had gone down and it was starting to get a little dark so we headed back and by the time we got to the bottom of Deer Run it was dark . Thank Goodness it was a full moon last night. We went really slow and made it down the rest of the trail. I think she liked it. I hope so. I would really love to have my Daughter ride with me . We could go and ride some great places.

So I think we will be seeing a little more of Sista in "The AC"

Finally got a chance to ride "The AC"

Got home a little early from the grind today . looked up at "The AC", and I could actually see the top of the mountains it was a little hazy but not as bad as it has been the last couple of days. So Lu and I were off, filled the Camel back and Lu's water bottle and took off . It was hot but not to bad. Checked out all the work that has been done on 4 Day and it looks and rides great .
I think just a couple of more tweaks on the climb before you hit the the bend were the fallen pines are and it will be perfect. But I am not going to complain because it is a great trail as it is.

Lu and I stopped at "Lu Lu Lagoon" she cooled off for a while
and then off to "The CT".
It was nice and cool down there and Man its over grown . Kinda Cool!

So we stopped at "Charlie's Beach" Lu jumped in the creek and I Took my stuff off Shoes, Camel Back, Helmet, gloves and went down and sat at the creeks edge and cooled off too.
Man that was nice.
Dried off and finished the ride.
Good Times
