Finally back on my bike

Finally back on my bike Friday evening. Lexi and I rode up to the top of VeCee canyon and rode the sandy ridge that runs down the middle of the canyon. It dropped us off at the top of the creek with NO Trail to follow for about a half of a mile so it was make your own . I even rode down the creek for about 100 yards it was very cool. The ride and the water. I will take pictures so you guy can figure out where we went.
A friend of mine was up running in Ve Cee canyon Thursday evening and her lab was bitten by a rattle snake. The dog went to the Vet and she is going to survive, so That is Great News.
I am concerned about LuLu so I am checking into Rattle snake classes for hunting dogs . To see if they are available in the area. She is really pretty good about staying on the trails. so I think she will be fine . But it still concerns me.

Evening ride after Dinner

Lu and I went out this evening for a quick ride.
I took the CFM and we ended up on Seven Steps as the sun was going down.
NICE .
So we hung out at the rock turn for about 10 minutes it was Beautiful.
The wind had all but died down. Every thing is so colorful when the sun is rising or setting.
It was a enjoyable ride to say the least .
Didn't see a shovel tho?

Biking can help you loose wieght and get in shape

Check these photos out!
Mountain biking can help you loose weight and get into shape .
Its helped me
Keep Riding

V&T With my buddy Mark

I waited for Mark K. to get off from work at 5 and the I rode up to Silver Oak and picked him up then we headed up to the collage bike path. The wind was blowing pretty hard so we decided to ride V&T. Its a good ride with some tough short climbs up and around the cut outs on some of the turns . I think it is a good sprint workout. You bring your heart rate up then back down then back up. I like it.
LuLu stayed home, She still isn't very happy with me, but I will make it up to her this weekend.

There has been so discussion about what LuLu's real name is . Well here is the skinny.
Her pedigree name is "Alexis Rokita Of Eagle Valley"
Her family name is Lexi Louise Laird
So We call her Lu , LuLu, Lulie, Lexi or Baby.
Hope that clears up the mud puddle.
Just don't call her "late for Dinner". :)

Back in "The AC"

Its Summer, 90 degree temps. But wait, its not here yet. Could snow one more time or Freeze. Never know in Carson City NV.. Since I spent all weekend tilling soil for my garden and getting tomato plants, planted .It should Freeze in about 10 days .Man I hope not.
I am way looken forward to my wifes Pico degio salsa. in late July early August.

Had a tuff ride this evening, I skipped lunch and had like, only a Nutria grain bar before I went on my regular Loop ride in "The AC". But I made it . I just wasn't at peak performance. Ya know letting your front tire fall off the trail bringing you to a sudden stop or trying to climb and you can't stay on the trail so ya have to stop and push up to a flat area to get started again . This could be just rookie stuff. But I think the main cause of my poor performance tonight was no Food to fuel the old Goat up the hill.

Always a good ride

Can I name an area in "The AC"?
The little pond right before the start of Creek Trail.
I would like to call it LULU Lagoon .
Thanks

Back in time for Firken

What a wurl wind tour in Mono County. Spent the last 35 hours at Mammoth Ski resort . Oh No not skiing! O No not mountain biking! Working. Just got to watch people have fun , but thats all right, I will make it up there this summer for some epic downhill. There is still quite a bit of snow up there . They say they will stay open until June 10th or so. But when I left Friday at 1pm it was 83 and you could see the snow melting off everything. So we might be Riding our bikes up there sooner than everyone thinks.

Here are some shoots I took Friday afternoon Of the Face and of Mono Lake.

What a blast an evening ride around the west side of town with a great bunch of Folks.
My wife Mark K and I were running late and we thought we were going to miss the historic ride. However we made it with time to spare. What a turn out, lots a people ready to take a easy ride around town. I got to meet Lester and talk about turning my CFM into a single speed . Now I can put a face to the name . I meet Jeff M.s Wife and MoM . I talked to Jason and his wife , Of course Jeff P. was there making sure everybody was entered into the Raffle for the urban Cruzer.
Ann and Chas were there ready to ride and I think from the info I got from Chas, Lumos and Associates are going to keep the trophy again this year for most people in one office to ride to work . But Ya never know. I guess we will find out Friday.
To many people to mention What a blast!

Urban ride with Kim and Lu

Went for a west side ride with Kim and Lu Lu Monday evening . What a wonderful evening for a slow cruz around Carson's west side streets. Broke out The Betty for Kim and I rode The Typhoon and as always Lu walked along side .
The Betty is a 2000 Electra
Typhoon is a Feb. 1971 Schwinn.

We have been talking about attending the Poker Run in Reno That really sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday.

Sunday after the rain

After a good rain like we had today, Boy it smelt good up in "The A.C."
I introduced a good friend of mine to "The A.C." this afternoon. I didn't subject him to the climb . We drove to the top of Timber line and rode in. To a Carson City street rider it still was quite the challenge. However he made it from Timber Line to the top of Upper Baldy Green and then down Creek Trail back up to the top of Deer Run and then all the way down to Silver Oak.
He said at the end of the ride that it was very fun and we would have to do it again, but he needs to start riding a little more so it won't be so difficult for him.
The trails were firm not to soft after that down pour we had at 2pm. Believe it or not there was a lot of people up there this evening. The temperature was Just right.

Quick Shout out to Dr. Timmy G. and his Dog Running Ash Canyon Rd.
Howdy Tim

I gave my brother in law my blog address

Rick Gunn arrives at Golden Gate at 11 AM today

WoW
I am sure a lot of us have been following Rick Gunn's adventure around the world on his bike for the past 3 years .
Well he has finally made it back home . Well almost home he will be crossing the Golden Gate bridge at 11am today. I don't know about anyone else but I have been living and dreaming vicariously though Rick's articles in the Appeal for the past 3 years. Man I hope he writes a book.
I wonder if he will be back in town before May passes . Maybe we can get him to a Bike month event that would be great.

Well if you havent been there yet here is his web site check it out .
rickgunnphotography.com
Ya know I thought a good ride on the Flume was an adventurer.
Here is a map of his route.
All I have to say is WoW Very Cool what an adventure.
Congratulations Rick!!! on doing something that the rest of us only dream about.
You inspire me to LIVE LIFE!
PEACE

Here is an article I found about him crossing the Bridge

When former Castro Valley resident Rick Gunn pedals across the Golden Gate Bridge on Saturday, he'll conclude the longest ride of his life: a nearly three-year bicycle trip around the world.

The 44-year-old South Lake Tahoe photographer will have traveled nearly 25,000 miles by the time he reaches his journey's end, crossing from Marin County to San Francisco.

With help from a speedier form of transportation — airplanes — to cross continents, Gunn has bicycled across the United States, traveled through Europe, visited remote mountain villages in Asia and fought his way through thousands of sheep in New Zealand.

"He's 6-foot-6-inches tall and 150 pounds, so in some places in the world, people gawked at him,'' said friend Ceci Melanson of Dublin. "But he also was hugged, fed and taken care of when he was sick. And, in nearly three years, he was only robbed once.''

Gunn was bicycling south down the Northern California coast Thursday, without a cell phone or any other means of communication. But his dad, Richard Gunn of Castro Valley, said he hoped to meet his only son at a prearranged stop in Olema in western Marin County.

Richard Gunn, his daughter Kathleen Campbell of Castro Valley and other friends and relatives also plan to be at the finish line Saturday.

Rick Gunn left from the Golden Gate Bridge in July 2005. He plans to recross the bridge at 11 a.m. Saturday, Melanson said.

He's made other trips, including three months in China,'' Richard Gunn recalled earlier this week. "When he told me about this trip, I said, 'If it's what you want, then you need to do it. It's your life.'"

However, "he wasn't aware of the anxiety it provoked'' for a parent, Richard Gunn added. "Some of the things he e-mailed weren't good things. But, I kept my mouth shut. I'm just relieved he's coming home.''

Rick Gunn was born in Castro Valley and graduated from Castro Valley schools. He moved to Lake Tahoe about 16 years ago and worked for Nevada newspapers before heading off on his incredible journey. Gunn kept family and friends informed via e-mail and by capturing his experiences in photos and on a journal on his Web site.
